Stansted Public Inquiry resumes 4 September

The Public Inquiry into proposals to expand passenger capacity and increase aircraft movements at Stansted Airport on the single runway is due to resume on Tuesday 4 September.

Most sessions are being held at Endeavour House, close to Stansted Airport.

In addition to these, external sessions are also being held in Sudbury (4 September) and Ware (6 September) to reflect the impacts of Stansted’s activities on communities much further away from the airport itself. A session is also scheduled for the Hallingbury’s (12 September) which lie just to the south of the airport and which suffer the main burden of take-offs from the airport.

To summarise, the timetable for the first half of September is:

4 September
Sudbury Town Hall (2pm and 7pm start) – various parties including the Dedham Vale Society, Colne Stour Society, Essex Wildlife Trust, Stour and Orwell Society

5 September
Endeavour House (10am – 5pm) – Much Hadham Parish Council evidence

6 September
Endeavour House (10am – 1pm) – nothing scheduled at present
Ware Priory, Ware (7pm start) – various parties including representatives from Ware Residents Against Stansted Expansion

7 September
Endeavour House (10am – 1pm) – National Trust evidence

11 September
Endeavour House (10am – 5pm) – Saffron Walden Friends of the Earth evidence

12 September
Endeavour House (10am – 1pm) – various parties
Little Hallingbury Village Hall (7pm start) – various parties including Viscount Simon on the impacts on Hatfield Forest

13 September
Endeavour House (10am – 5pm) – various parties

14 September
Endeavour House (10am – 3pm) – various parties

18 September
Endeavour House (10am – tbc) – various parties including constituency MP Sir Alan Haselhurst

Surface access issues are due to commence on 25 September and details of appearances by witnesses are expected to be announced shortly.
