NATS AIRSPACE CONSULTATION |
SSE Response to STAL Departure Flight Trials Consultation with the linked Glossary of Terms (26 November 2015)
SSE Appeal to The Information Commissioner's Office under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (2 April 2015)
In early 2008 National Air Traffic Services issued a consultation on the management of airspace in the Terminal Control North area which looked at changing the flightpaths in our region to deal with an expected increase in aircraft numbers. There was uproar - not just because of the significance of the changes being proposed and the potential noise impacts on the community, with more losers than winners, but because of the procedural inadequacies of the consultation itself.
The consultation was subsequently withdrawn with the intention of re-running it in late 2010. Then, in October 2010, NATS announced that it could be 2013/14 before a new consultation is published.
We know that you will be just as vigilant on the issue this time as you have been in the past - particularly when it seems our region is due to become the dumping ground for noise as a result of the routing of planes that we anticipate from other London airports.
It is SSE's intention once again to provide analysis and information to guide parish and town councils on what is quite a technical area so that you can give informed feedback to NATS when the time comes. This will be available via this page or, if you'd like to receive an email from us when it is ready, please email us on [email protected] with your details.
As a brief refresher of our main concerns last time, see the letter we wrote to the Civil Aviation Authority. More information on what happened last time around can be viewed on our 2008 NATS Airspace Consulation page.
