ROYALTY RULES AT DUTON HILL MAY DAY FUN DAY
From Kate and William's wedding to Queen of the May - anything goes as long as it's within the royal theme adopted for this year's Duton Hill May Day Fun Day Sunday on 1st May.
The annual festivities kick off at the Three Horseshoes Pub at 11.30am with a parade through the village and children and adults alike are invited to don royal fancy dress to join in. Judging of the best costumes follows at noon, after which the fete opens and the afternoon fun begins, centered around the Duton Hill maypole.
Activities continue in the gardens of the village pub throughout the afternoon until 5pm, with traditional maypole dancing, line and belly dancing performances, a magic show and fun dog show for those who want to put pets through their paces.
Stalls of every kind will offer everything from books to bric-a-brac, face-painting, plate smashing and a raffle, plus the ever-popular tombola, bottle, cake and plant stalls. A range of refreshments will be served, including a BBQ, teas and home-made cakes.
The proceeds of this year's event will be donated to Great Easton Primary School and Stop Stansted Expansion and volunteers from each organization will be involved with many of the stalls and activities on the day.
Anyone able to donate items to ensure the event is another roaring success, especially raffle and tombola prizes, plants, bottles (anything from shampoo to champagne), bric-a-brac and home-made preserves, should contact Maggie Sutton on 07714 767921 or the SSE campaign office on 01279 870558. As usual, home-made cakes and bread will be gratefully received on the day.
