7000 SECOND HAND BOOKS GO ON SALE FOR SSE

SSE volunteer Phyllis Clark as she sorts through the latest batch of books donated for the booksale on 2 April Stop Stansted Expansion (SSE) is holding a giant sale of 7000 good quality second hand books at The Old School House at the Four Ashes Crossroads, Takeley, on Saturday 2 April between 9am and 1pm.

Fiction and non-fiction works as well as children's reading material will be offered at just 50p for paperbacks and 1 for hardbacks.

The sale follows in the wake of a similar event in the autumn which raised nearly 900 for SSE's campaign for a moratorium on second runway plans and to press BAA to sell back more than 300 homes including 39 listed buildings bought up in connection with the expansion proposals scrapped last May. SSE also continues to press for improvements to mitigate the impacts of existing airport operations, particularly noise.

"With a two-stage government consultation for the development of a new aviation strategy about to commence, the need for SSE's activities to continue remains strong - even if the immediate threat of expansion at Stansted has receded," said Carol Barbone, SSE Campaign Director.

More information on the booksale is available from SSE on 01279 870558.
