SSE'S 2011 COMMUNITY CALENDAR LAUNCHED
A stunning image of bluebells in the woods at Much Hadham features on the cover of the 2011 Community Calendar which goes on sale this week (w/c 13 September) in aid of Stop Stansted Expansion (SSE).
The image is a taster of a beautiful series of 36 pictures within the calendar's pages featuring towns and villages across Essex, Herts and Suffolk which lie in the shadow of Stansted Airport's operations. Once again, the photographs have been selected from the best of the contributions submitted by members of the community keen to remain ever-vigilant to threat of airport expansion.
Bluebells are traditionally associated with constancy, among other things, and the symbolism won't be lost on those who have fought the expansion threat over the decades - and won every time.
All proceeds from sales of the calendar - the ninth to be produced - will be used in the continuing campaign by SSE to secure the long term safeguards needed to prevent the threat of a second runway ever being revisited on the region. With Government policy and legislation to be developed over the course of the coming year, SSE hopes to influence political thinking to achieve this goal and to contain the adverse impacts of current airport activity.
As in previous years, the calendars will be priced at just £6 and will be on sale at 30 shops across the area, as well as from the 50-strong sales team drawn from SSE's members. The SSE campaign office can also arrange gift mailing at a small extra charge.
For further information, details of sales points and online order forms see the Calendar page or call SSE on 01279 870558.
