PHOTOGRAPHS REQUIRED FOR THE 2010 COMMUNITY CALENDAR AND THE 2009 CHRISTMAS CARD |
The Community Calendars, Christmas cards and notelets produced for Stop Stansted Expansion have been sold to many thousands of people, generating substantial funds for the campaign and raising its profile in the wider community. The team responsible for its production is already planning for the 2010 calendar, which will be the 8th in the series, and is encouraging photographers to take and donate photos for the calendar or for the next Christmas card and possibly for other SSE purposes.
The best chance of having your photo(s) accepted for the calendar is if you can supply three landscape digital images depicting the same season and taken in one of the target places listed below. Ideally, one of the photos should have a 'wow' factor and be suitable for the main picture. Autumn and winter sets are particularly welcome. Whilst it is envisaged that all pictures inside the calendar will be landscape (that is wide rather than tall), the cover requires a portrait image, so we would also like to receive 'wow' quality portrait images of any of the target locations.
Suggested photographic targets for 2010 are as follows: Barnston, Bishop's Stortford, Braughing, Broxted, Churchgate Street, Elsenham, Farnham, Gilston & Eastwick, Great Amwell, Great Dunmow, Hatfield Forest, Ickleton, Little Bardfield, Little Hadham, Little Hallingbury, Quendon, Radwinter, Rickling, Saffron Walden, Sewards End, Stansted Mountfitchet, Takeley, Thaxted and Thorley. Please use this list as a guide, but quality sets of three or more photos for other places will be considered.
The preference is for digital photos, which will need to be of a high quality to meet the exacting print quality required, especially for the main monthly picture. A digital image with a file size of less than 1mb is unlikely to reproduce with sufficient clarity. Photos must be your own work and you must still own the copyright. The selection for the next calendar will be chosen by the usual team, led by Ken McDonald.
Please submit digital files (or prints from film), describing where each photo was taken and giving any particularly pertinent background information. Do not send slides or negatives. If your photo is selected for inclusion, then we will need a high resolution digital file or a large print (9 inches x 6 inches or bigger) or the negative, so please be sure you can find the original digital file or negative!
If submitting a print, please put your name on the back – best to write it on a label or post-it note and then stick it to the back. Please enclose an addressed envelope so photos can be returned in due course.
Photos may be sent at any time, but should arrive no later than 30th June 2009. Please email them direct to Ken McDonald at teskey@btinternet.com or post to him at 2 Greenfields, Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex, CM24 8AH.
SSE will not want exclusive publishing rights to the photos. This leaves you free to publish elsewhere if you have the opportunity. Any unwanted prints will be returned, and prints selected for use will be returned after being professionally scanned.
There are no prizes, but we hope SSE's need will give photographers an added incentive to explore and enjoy the area. Get snapping!
